Ergon Energy Network
Ergon Energy Network distributes across regional Queensland — everything outside the south-east corner. It shares the Queensland connection manual with Energex and runs its own copy of the same Electrical Partners Portal, with its own forms.
What they assess
- The installer's portal is a credential check
- A retailer or installer applying for the customer lodges through the Electrical Partners Portal, and registering for it takes a current Queensland electrical contractor licence number or an accredited solar installer number. Customers can also apply themselves through a separate customer portal.
- Three form types, and only one is right
- The portal carries enquiries, connects and electrical work requests. A solar install that creates or changes a distributed energy record is a connect; the other two will not do the job.
- Approval before installation, exporting or not
- Every distributed energy system needs approval before it goes in, including systems configured never to export.
Where it snags
Energex and Ergon run the same portal under the same name, with the same form types, each on its own site — and an application form for one network is not interchangeable with the other. An application lodged with the wrong distributor is not considered and a new one is needed — so settle which network the NMI belongs to before logging in, not after.
