TAS network

TasNetworks

TasNetworks is Tasmania's distributor and also owns the transmission network, so both sides of a connection question sit with one organisation rather than two.

What they assess

Portal or paper
Applications are lodged through the connections portal or on forms, commonly by the electrician or solar retailer on the customer's behalf.
The retailer closes the loop
Once the electrical work is verified, the metering request passes to the energy retailer, who arranges the meter and final connection.

Where it snags

  • A voltage measurement taken at the existing installation before the connection is expected with the application, so someone has to attend site before the paperwork rather than after it. TasNetworks — embedded generation

  • Where the connection triggers network studies, their direct costs sit with the applicant — worth knowing before quoting a site likely to need them. TasNetworks — embedded generation

Confirm the distributor from the bill, NMI record or connection approval before relying on this page. Embedded networks, remote grids and private networks may use a different authority. The connection offer and the site-specific approval override anything general, here or on the distributor’s own site. Reviewed 2026-08-08.
