TasNetworks
TasNetworks is Tasmania's distributor and also owns the transmission network, so both sides of a connection question sit with one organisation rather than two.
What they assess
- Portal or paper
- Applications are lodged through the connections portal or on forms, commonly by the electrician or solar retailer on the customer's behalf.
- The retailer closes the loop
- Once the electrical work is verified, the metering request passes to the energy retailer, who arranges the meter and final connection.
Where it snags
A voltage measurement taken at the existing installation before the connection is expected with the application, so someone has to attend site before the paperwork rather than after it. TasNetworks — embedded generation
Where the connection triggers network studies, their direct costs sit with the applicant — worth knowing before quoting a site likely to need them. TasNetworks — embedded generation
Go straight to
Confirm the distributor from the bill, NMI record or connection approval before relying on this page. Embedded networks, remote grids and private networks may use a different authority. The connection offer and the site-specific approval override anything general, here or on the distributor’s own site. Reviewed 2026-08-08.
